Sharia Mayfield for Multnomah County Chair

Building a better Multnomah County for all

Common Sense Solutions

Sharia’s public-sector background at the federal, state and county level, as a law professor and now as the owner of her own employment discrimination law firm, highlight her solution-oriented, forward-looking mindset. As Multnomah County Chair, Sharia promises that she will work with a sense of critical urgency, using all of her legal experience and policy tools at her fingertips to address our county’s most pressing needs. Her vision reflects the common-sense adage, “don’t let perfection be the enemy of good.” If you are tired of snail-pace “progress” and dead-end plans, vote Sharia Mayfield for urgent solutions.

Together, we can do better!

PRIORITIES & WHY SHARIA’S RUNNING

Let’s be real. Ask anyone with eyes and they’ll tell you our County is in decline with heaps of garbage, biohazards, and multiple growing emergencies. In 2021, federal analysis showed that Oregon jumped to having the second highest unsheltered population in the entire US right after California [1], even though the County acknowledged we were in a homeless “emergency” all the way back in 2015 and could have prevented this. More recent studies show us enduring record gun violence, homicide and traffic deaths, the worst drug addiction treatment in the US, abysmal graduation rates, and exploding crime, all while shouldering some of the highest tax burden in the nation. Now, more than ever, we need a leader with direction and purpose to help heal this County. That’s exactly what Sharia will deliver as County Chair.
